Why I Started Hats Off Digital Marketing – And Why It’s Different

Hats Off

After more than 20 years in marketing — across both B2B and B2C — I decided it was time to build something of my own.

Over the years, I’ve worked in-house and freelance across a wide mix of industries: software, telecoms, eCommerce, packaging, recruitment, FMCG and print. I’ve managed campaigns, written content, organised events, produced articles, delivered advertising, run market research and handled PR. If it falls under “marketing,” I’ve probably done it — and done it well.

I stepped away from full-time work for a few years to raise my family, and when I was ready to return, I knew I didn’t want the usual setup. I wanted to work directly with businesses, keep things flexible, and actually enjoy what I do — writing, creating, and supporting businesses with the kind of hands-on marketing help that gets results.

That’s when I started Hats Off Digital Marketing.

A no fluff, get-it-done approach

Hats Off is built on one simple idea: marketing doesn’t need to be complicated to work. You don’t need a full-time team, an overstuffed strategy doc or endless meetings to stay visible. You just need the right support — delivered clearly, consistently and in a way that fits your business.

That’s what I do. I help with the doing — blog posts, Facebook ads, website copy, emails, social graphics, content planning and more. All the pieces that keep your marketing moving forward.

What makes Hats Off different?

I work closely with small to medium sized businesses that need experienced marketing support — without the agency price tag or the faff.

You get me: one person who understands your business, knows how to get your tone right and gets the work done. No account managers. No outsourcing. No surprise invoices.

It’s support that’s hands-on, reliable and genuinely feels like an extension of your business.

What I can help with:

  • Blog and article writing
  • Email marketing
  • Social media posts and planning
  • Facebook and Google Ads
  • Website content and landing page updates
  • Content creation and artwork design

What to expect when we work together:

  • ✅ Friendly, no-nonsense communication
  • ✅ Quick turnarounds and reliable delivery
  • ✅ Content that sounds like you
  • ✅ Support that scales with your needs
  • ✅ No fluff, no faff, no fuss

If that sounds like the kind of help you’ve been looking for — let’s have a chat.

Want to get a feel for the kind of work I do? Here’s a recent blog I wrote for Stok.ly, a cloud-based ERP platform that helps independent retailers and brands manage their inventory, orders and fulfilment across multiple sales channels.

The blog explores how AI and ERP can work together to help independent fashion retailers stay competitive: “How AI and ERP Can Work Together to Give Independent Fashion Brands a Fighting Chance”.

It’s clear, practical and written to connect with retailers who want to grow smarter — without drowning in tech speak. If your business needs content like that, let’s talk.
